I am Sofía, I come from that colorful and cheerful land called South America, whose shape from the sky resembles a heart. I was born and raised in the Chilean countryside, in a small town called Los Rastrojos.
I felt love for drawing since I was little, I studied Design at the University of Valparaíso. I worked for 6 years in my profession, oriented more towards the area of web design. At one point in my life, already exhausted from the routine and with the desire to know and learn, I decided to emigrate from my country and dedicated myself to travel. I spent a year and three months in New Zealand, another year in Australia, and a year and a half touring Asia.
When you traveling light and often, it is necessary to adapt to each situation that the road presents to you, many times without guessing where your route will end. Sometimes I go with friends, sometimes not, but my croquera always accompanies me, where I try to capture what excites or surprises me, the learning acquired, the benefits of each known culture and why not say it, my natural and spontaneous way of being.
Upon returning to Chile I occupied my time working in tourism related to snow; then I moved to Patagonia, where I worked in Torres del Paine Park, a magical and wonderful place whose landscapes made me enjoy every day. I developed a series of illustrations that became postcards that were sold or still sold at the hotel explora Patagonia, and that I continue to paint.
After two years in my country, I traveled again, a year and a half visiting some countries in Europe, doing various jobs such as painting murals, drawings and web pages. Almost at the end of my trip in Santorini I met my current partner. Back in Chile and Patagonia, the Covid transformed everything, my work was closed and I dedicated myself to selling paintings in my parents’ house, a year passed and through many papers and procedures I was able to travel to France to meet my love again.
It was not premeditated, very visceral, I ended up emigrating for love, nothing has been easy, I continue to learn the language and try to integrate more and more into the country and its culture. That is how, before emigrating, I timidly started my first attempts with paper, already in France I took some online courses, of cartapesta and papier-mâché, for which I am now presenting my works related to the recycling of paper, mainly dolls, fan art, and objects of decoration.
This is how “Minoscora” was born, -colors of Minotaurs and Corals-, how it has been developing and evolving, all my work exhibited here is nothing more than the reflection of my feelings and my soul. Each one takes many hours, dedication and affection, some are original creations, others my version of great masters, fan art, others do not correspond to a previous sketch, they are only born when taking pencils or paper.
Color is a fundamental part of my life, functioning as a healing entity, it makes me happy and full of joy, it is the cricket that resonates in my head every day and sometimes does not let me sleep with new ideas, all my passion poured here, I hope you enjoy it and if you want to buy something you are welcome, you take a piece of me with you, an affectionate hug to all of you.
